William
Reid Ltd was established on 5th December 1930 by Captain William
Reid. Since then the company has passed on through employee
management until in 1982 it was taken over by Alan Dunlop and
Tony Cromie.
In 1992 the comany decided to venture into the Stevedoring business.
William Reid is the only Stevedoring business on the island
of Ireland to specialise in the handling of steel products.
In 2005 in conjunction with the Belfast Harbour Commissioners
a 40,000 square feet store dedicated to handling steel coils
was completed. There is not another Dock side store of this
quality in Ireland.
At present William Reid Ltd has a fleet of Fork Trucks, ranging
in size from 2.5 Tons to 48 Tons capacity. Most can be fitted
with special probes for handling steel coils.
William Reid Ltd also handles other cargoes such as; Aggregates,
Peat Moss, Packaged Timber, Tree Bark, Biomass, Wood Chips and
Project Cargoes. |
